Melissa Thomas, OD

Melissa Thomas, OD, is a Knoxville native. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2007. In 2011, she graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis with clinical honors.
Dr. Thomas has a passion for her profession and patients which has led her to go on international mission trips to Trinidad, Haiti, and Guatemala to provide eye care for those in need. She also volunteers locally with the Lion’s Club.
Dr. Thomas has a particular interest in managing dry eye disease, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the East Tennessee Society of Optometric Physicians, in which she served as President in 2017.
In her spare time, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with her husband, going to church, playing with her Yorkie, cheering on the Vols, and relaxing on the lake.
