About Dr. Wittke
Dr. Paul Wittke is a board-certified ophthalmologist who cared for patients across East Tennessee for decades. Throughout his years with Tennessee Eye Care he provided comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, with particular expertise in cataract surgery and glaucoma management.
Dr. Wittke earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin. Over the course of his career he performed thousands of cataract surgeries and helped a great many patients hold on to their sight.
He was known for a gentle manner and an unhurried, thorough approach — taking the time to make sure each patient understood their condition and felt settled about their treatment before anything went ahead. Families across the region came to know him as their eye doctor over many years.
Dr. Wittke has since retired from clinical practice. We are grateful for the care he gave our patients and for the standard he set here, and we are glad to keep his place among our doctors. His patients remain in the hands of the ophthalmologists and optometrists who trained and worked alongside him.
